Perryville, Missouri is a city in Perry County, Missouri, United States. It is the county seat of Perry County, Missouri, and its population was 8,225 as of the 2010 census.
The City of Perryville has a strong local economy anchored by a strong Chamber of Commerce and many manufacturing companies. In 1923, the Chamber of Commerce was formed, and Perryville launched an industrial development effort to persuade International Shoe Company in St. Louis to open a Perryville plant. This effort was successful and led to a period of growth for the city, spurring development and new businesses, and broadening city services. In 1940, a second International Shoe plant opened in Perryville; however, in 1964, an economic downturn forced the closing of the second plant.
Looking to diversity its industrial base, city officials developed the Perryville Industrial Park and established an enterprise zone. Tenants that have moved into the Perryville Industrial Park include TG Missouri Corporation, T-N-T Plastics, Wilkes Integrated Packaging, Falcon Foam and Industrial Foam Products (now Atlas EPS), Perry County Sheltered Workshop, and Missouri Corrugated Box.
Other manufacturers in Perryville include Gilster-Mary Lee Corporation, with a baking mix plant and a cereal plant. Also in Perryville are Sabreliner Corporation, a jet aircraft engine maintenance company; Seguin Moreau, a French wine barrel manufacturer that mills barrels from Perry County's white oak forests; and BBL Buildings and Components and Stark Truss, two companies that manufacture building trusses for commercial and residential construction.
